With one swing of the bat the Minnesota Twins beat the Washington Nationals on Monday night. Justin Morneau connected on a two run home run in the sixth inning and the Twins beat the Nationals 2-1. It was a good thing Morneau hit the home run because the Twins offense really didn’t do much all night long.
Morneau was clearly the reason why the Twins won the game but we can’t forget at how well the pitchers pitched. Livan Hernandez pitched the first seven innings and only allowed five hits and one run while picking up the win. Matt Guerrier then pitched a scoreless eighth inning before Joe Nathan came in and finished off the Nationals in the ninth inning. It was Nathan’s 18th save of the season.
Hopefully tomorrow the Twins will swing the bats better and score more then two runs. You can’t always expect your pitching staff to hold the opposing team to one run.
