A seven-day disabled list for concussions wouldn't have done Aaron Hill much good when the Toronto Blue Jays second baseman missed the final four months of 2008 with the injury. That didn't stop him from saying the move, and several other guidelines instituted by Major League Baseball on Tuesday, was another positive sign the sport is doing more and more to address concussions.

Nick Blackburn shut down Atlanta's projected opening-day lineup during four scoreless innings but Mauro Gomez hit a two-run homer in the 10th inning to give the Braves a 4-2 win over the Minnesota Twins in an exhibition on Tuesday night. Blackburn surrendered one hit and walked one. Helped by two double plays, the right-hander faced the minimum 12 batters.

The Minnesota Twins traded right-handed pitching prospect Billy Bullock to the Atlanta Braves, which allows them to retain Rule 5 draft choice Scott Diamond. The Twins announced the deal Monday. They plucked the left-handed Diamond out of the Braves' system in December. He allowed one earned run on six hits in six innings of work during spring training.

Daisuke Matsuzaka turned in his strongest outing of the spring. Red Sox reliever Bobby Jenks had a little more trouble. Matsuzaka was solid for six innings before Jenks gave up six runs in the ninth, letting the Minnesota Twins rally past Boston 9-8 Saturday night. Matsuzaka allowed one run and five hits in six innings.
