The Twins push their winning streak to 4 games as they sweep a 3 game series in Kansas City.  Minnesota was able to get superb pitching from crafty right hander Kevin Slowey and constant hitting from the first 3rd of the order.

Previously menitioned Kevin Slowey gave the Twins a career high in innings as he was the only pitcher used in the feisty affair. Going a complete 9 innings, Slowey was nearly awarded a shutout, however Alex Gordon broke up his hopes with an RBI double in the bottom ninth which drove in Joey Gathright. However none of his line impresses me as much as the intangibles, giving the bullpen a night off. Despite only giving away 6 hits and striking out 6, the one thing not in the box score was being the only Twins pitcher used. After 2 straight extra inning affairs, the bullpen sure does appreciate it.

None the less, he would need some run support after all. Our Twins would oblige to that call. The speedy one two punch,  Carlos Gomez and Alexi Casilla, provided the Twins with baserunners a plenty as they handed the job off to the order’s bulk. Several leaders led the way as the Twins continued to show why they lead the AL average with runners in scoring position. Starting out in the top of the 4th as Michael Cuddyer inside-outed a base hit to left which allowed the Twins to jump out to a 1-0 lead. The very next inning, Joe Mauer smacked a double to right center nearly collecting his first round tripper of the rear as it hopped off the wall. Sounds good, right? Well the very next inning Brendan Harris smacked a long fly the other way, Mark Teahen made a sliding catch, but eith the bases loaded all runners advanced, giving Harris a sac fly. With the Twins lead at 3-0, Carlos Gomez smacked a line drive single to right that brought in two.

The before mention top 3rd of the order went a combined 9-13, 2 runs, 3 RBI, 2 BB with Carlos Gomez leading the way going 4-5, scoring once and driving in 2.

News and Notes: Delmon Young sat out tonight ending his consecutive games played streak at 217. The Twins will welcome Craig Breslow, southpaw reliever to the bullpen. Breslow will be at the dome Friday night in uniform in time for a 7L10 start with the Yankees. With the win, the Twins remain 2 games behind 1st as the White Sox won in Tampa.

Wow what an exciting game if you are a Minnesota Twins fan!  The Twins came back to score five runs in the top of the ninth inning to tie the game, and then scored another run in the top of the tenth inning as they went onto beat the Kansas City Royals 9-8.

Craig Monroe delivered the big three run home run with two outs in the ninth inning that tied the game.  It was awesome to see Monroe come in off the bench and deliver the huge pitch hit home run.  Justin Morneau then delivered a solo home run in the tenth inning to give the Twins the one run lead.

Monroe led the Twins with three rbi in the game.  Mike Lamb and Carlos Gomez both had two rbi while Alexi Casilla and Morneau both had one rbi.  Nice balanced scoring attack that the Twins had on the night.

Twins starting pitcher Livan Hernandez was hit all night long as he gave up 13 hits and eight runs in six innings of action.  Luckily for the Twins, their bullpen did not allow a run to score in five innings of action.

Juan Rincon, Bobby Korecky, Dennys Reyes, Jesse Crain, and Joe Nathan all pitched in relief.

The Minnesota Twins and Texas Rangers played ten innings on Thursday afternoon and the Twins came up on the wrong side of the winning side.  Josh Hamilton hit a game winning home run off of Brian Bass in the top of the tenth inning as the Twins lost 8-7.

Bass took the loss of course and is now 1-1 on the season.  Twins starter Livan Hernandez only tossed 5 1/3 innings as he gave up ten hits and six runs in the game.  Only five of the six runs were earned but in the end that didn’t really matter.  Matt Guerrier pitched 1 1/3 innings after Hernandez left the game and he gave up another run.  Jesse Crain and Joe Nathan held the Rangers scoreless in the eighth and ninth innings before Bass had troubles in the tenth inning.

It really sucked to see the Twins blow the game especially after they battled back to tie the game in the bottom of the eighth inning with two runs.  Justin Morneau singled in two runs that tied the game in the eighth and that is what gave the Twins a good chance at winning the game.

Carlos Gomez went 4-5 including a solo home run and three rbi to actually lead the Twins at the plate.  Gomez is now batting .286 with four home runs and 17 rbi.  Morneau had two rbi while Brendan Harris and Michael Cuddyer finished the game with one rbi each.

The Twins will now take on the Detroit Tigers over the weekend.  The Tigers just got done with a three game sweep of the Seattle Mariners so the Twins better come to play all weekend long.

The Minnesot Twins pounded on the Texas Rangers Tuesday night as the Twins beat the Rangers 11-4.  The Twins had 13 hits but they scored 11 runs with great production up and down the lineup.  Eleven runs were scored and not one of them came via the home run which is even more impressive.

Alexi Casilla, Delmon Young, and Mike Lamb all had two rbi each in the game to lead the way for the Twins.  Joe Mauer, Justin Morneau, Michael Cuddyer, and Adam Everett all had one rbi in the game.  Now that is what I call production up and down the lineup!

Glen Perkins improved his record to 1-1 on the season as he pitched 6 1/3 innings to pick up the win.  Perkins allowed six hits and three runs (two were earned) in his six plus innings of action.  Brian Bass then came in and tossed 2 2/3 innings while giving up one run.

The Twins are in second place of the Central Division as they are 1.5 games behind the Chicago White Sox.   Let’s see if the Twins can make a nice run at the top position during the rest of the week.  Twins Blog

The Minnesota Twins tied the game in the ninth inning with a rbi single and then eventually beat the Texas Rangers 7-6 with a rbi single in the 12th inning.  Great come from behind win for the Twins that will hopefully spark them up a little bit so they can go on a nice winning streak.

Joe Mauer had the rbi single in the bottom of the ninth inning that sent the game into extra inning.  In the 12th inning it was Howie Clark who delivered the game winning hit.  Alexi Casilla led the Twins with three rbi in the game as he had a three run home run in the fourth inning.  Mauer finished the game with two rbi while Mike Lamb and Clark both had one rbi.

Bobby Korecky got the Twins out of a bases loaded jam in the 11th inning and then pitched the 12th inning as he recorded his first win of the season.  Korecky also got a hit in the game as well.  Korecky became the first Twins pitcher to get a hit in an American League game since the designated hitter rule was enacted in 1973.

Starting pitcher Boof Bonser gave up six hits and four runs in 6 1/3 innings.  Matt Guerrier and Dennys Reyes both gave up one run in relief as well.  It was Jesse Crain, Joe Nathan, and Juan Rincon who pitched three scorless innings before Korecky came into the game.

Good win for the Twins and hopefully they can continue to win some ballgames.  Twins Blog

The Minnesota Twins lost to the Toronto Blue Jays by the score of 3-2 in eleven inning on Thursday afternoon.  With the loss, the Twins were swept by the Blue Jays in a three game series.  Just a bad outing for the Twins as their record is now .500 at 20-20.

Jesse Crain gave up a rbi single in the eleventh inning to take the loss and is now 1-2 on the season.  Glen Perkins, the starting pitcher pitched six inning and he gave up five hits and two runs.  Matt Guerrier, Dennys Reyes, Joe Nathan all pitched and did not allow a run.

Justin Morneau had the only rbi for the Twins.  Morneau hit the rbi doube to deep center field in the fifth inning.  Brendan Harris also tried to score on Morneau’s double but was thrown out at home.

The Minnesota Twins tried but couldn’t come back against the Toronto Blue Jays after Matt Stairs hit a first inning grand slam for the Blue Jays.  The Twins did make it interesting however as they did score three runs themselves in the bottom of the first inning, but in the end they still lost to the Blue Jays 6-5.

The Twins did get four runs off of Roy Halladay and another run off the Blue Jays bullpen but it wasn’t enough.  Justin Morneau had a two run home run in the first inning to get the Twins on the board.  Jason Kubel then doubled in a run after the Morneau home run in the first inning.  In the third inning, Michael Cuddyer had a rbi groundout.  The Twins didn’t get another run in the game until the eighth inning when Kubel had another rbi double.

Boof Bonser took the loss for the Twins and his record dropped to 2-5 on the season.  Bonser gave up five hits and five runs in six innings of action.  Jesse Crain gave up a unearned in the eighth inning.  Juan Rincon and Joe Nathan both pitched a scoreless inning in the game.
